vector addition
(the geometric sum) of several vectors is obtained by repeated application of the parallelogram rule. In Cartesian coordinates for two vectors A and B, the vector addition can be performed simply by adding the corresponding components of the vectors, so if A = (a1, a2, a3) and В = (b1, b2, b3), then: (A+B) = ( a1+b1, a2+b2, a3+ b3).
