Earth-Centered Inertial coordinate system

Earth-Centered Inertial coordinate system

“The ECI coordinate system”- can be considered as stationary in relation to the surrounding stationary space in specific cases of experiments, carried out on the Earth’s surface. The origin of the coordinate system is in the center of the Earth (which is not stationary), and its axes are practically stationary – aimed at very distant astronomical objects.
